The photo above was taken in the Badlands of Montana near Jordan (June 2003).
Just to the left of the butte is where I found the leg bone of a Triceratops dinosaur. The fossil is about 65 million years old (Cretaceous). The Triceratops lived alongside duckbill dinosaurs (hadrosaurs) and the king of dinos Tyrannosaurus rex.

Notice on the butte there are horizontal lines (layers of colors). Why do you think you see lines there and not in the foreground? In fact, you see lines that curve and run vertically (up and down). There are many dinosaur skeletons to be found... how would you go about looking for them? Where would you start?
